Buddhist groups have been at the forefront of efforts to care for the environment. Included in their effort is Buddhist literature for children that reflects environmental concerns. Picture books on this topic take two approaches: In one, bodhisattvas – wise and powerful supernatural beings that can appear in the world to help human beings – serve as models for children in the way that they protect the environment.

The Fourth Precept – Abstaining from False Speech

Out of the Five Precepts, the fourth precept – Musavada - is the one people break mostly; that is to make a false speech. . In the era where bullies or slanders can be found in abundance, as well as, spicing up what have been heard and disseminating them are what people commonly do most, such practices would make false speech disperse further. Those who fall into the trap or get involved in listening to and believing in it would bear the unwholesome consequence from such actions as well.

Show some respect for our Lord Buddha!

I believe all of us must have had someone whom we hold in high regard and don't wish to see him or her being insulted in any way. It feels good to see other people show him or her respect the same way we do but we can't help feeling offended if they do the complete opposite. Complaints are common reactions in most negative cases, and things often get much more intense as far as religious figures are concerned. Late last month, an activist group of Thai Buddhists called "Knowing Buddha" organised a demonstration in Bangkok to protest against commercial practices that show disrespect to Buddha.

In Search of the Real Buddha

The Buddha was a real historical person who ate, slept, sweated, and got tired. Yet he was also an extraordinary person who developed inspiring qualities that we are all capable of developing. If you find some of the details of the developed hagiography of the Buddha an off-putting burden, look to him as a great human teacher of the path beyond human limitation.

“RESPECT BUDDHA’S Image ” – don’t use Buddha as Decoration

In Ronaldo’s defense, the Knowing Buddha Organization of Thailand, says “these kinds of incidents happen all the time, not because individuals mean to intentionally disrespect Buddha’s image, but due to a lack of understanding what Buddha’s image represents. Buddha’s image has been so commercialized in the past few decades, that most people have forgotten that Buddhism is a religion and Buddha’s image belongs in a temple, not as decoration in Hotels, Bars, Spa’s or people’s homes.” says the KBO Foundation.

“The path to liberation”

Life is the unity of the physical and the spiritual entities; however, the mind is also a formless continuum that is a separate entity from the body. When the body disintegrates at death, the mind does not cease. Our spirit will still remain and seek out to a new body and new life by the resultant karma (cause and effect) of one’s past actions. This ‘Karma code’ will determine where they will be born as a result of the past and the accumulation of positive and negative actions.

At the Same Place…

translation of text over photo At the Same Place We are honest to others because we see the value of those people. But humans often do not see the value of his/her original mind. They made a wish and easily give it up, Leaving the original mind drifting in the endless cycle of suffering. This is because of negligence in self-honesty. Most people intend to be good and honest. But often fail to be honest to themselves, Particularly meditators who are dishonest to their own wish. Regrettably they abandon their effort when they get tested They give up their intention easily. And therefore stuck in the cycle of suffering endlessly All because of dishonesty to their own wish. Hence, the grassland will never be as high as a Phoenix. Master Acharavadee Wongsakon
