When we talk about merit and sin, it sounds like an unproven issue. However, the ones who have experienced the seed of merit and sin will understand. Actually, the power of merit and sin are the energy originated from our mind. Mind current is the leader that categorize which energy occurring from sin or merit.

Mind with the power of merit is refined and bright. When you do good deeds willingly, you feel peace in your mind. Purified mind will stay beyond the power of defilements (Kilesa). It has the power to polish impurities covering the outer part of mind. That is why a merit maker has a radiant body. Conversely, evil mind has heavy current full of impurities and dirt because such kind of mind produces stress, worries and negative energy. These are heavy currents accumulated inside the mind, making it more and more gloomy, which can be seen by the dull sign of the body.

This dullness or brightness is different from getting suntan or body scrubbing. The difference is because our mind can experience this. For example, some people have shining face but our mind cannot feel the brightness inside because the merit current does not radiate out from their mind.

In the early days of Vipassana course, I noticed that my students’ faces looked dull due to what they have been through in their life. However, their faces turned bright obviously at the end of the course. It was an inner brightness that I could see with my eyes.

For those who always make merit and do good deeds, they purify their mind from impurities, so their body will be bright. But if they do the opposite, their body and mind would become more dull day by day. The more you do bad deeds with cruel intention, the harsher is the result of those actions. The more virtue the one you hurt has, the greater and faster the counter power of your action will be. The example of this is when Cincamanavika and Devadatta made a plan to harm Lord Buddha. When malicious energy was sent to Buddha mind, which is pure with no impurities, but only bodily formation. With pure mind and neutrality, the energy was countered back rapidly and strongly to the senders.

If we throw a stone to the wall with anger, breakable wall will damage. The current that is sent is successful and spreads out on many sides. If we throw a stone, thinking that there is a wall, but actually the wall is not there. When there is no destination, the origin of the source will fully receive the currents they sent. These currents will then be within the senders themselves, waiting for them to receive the karmic fruits as according to the rule of the spirit world.

For the mind with merit, the more good deeds are made, the more purification of darkness inside the mind will be, making it clearer. The current that is sent out will connect to the Dhamma power. If it even connects to the current of the Triple Gems, the current that is returned to the mind will be even more. It is the supported power. When it comes to the side of merit, we don’t call it “Counter Power,” but we use the term “Supported Power” instead.

If there is any doubt that where the Triple Gems get the current to return, just when they feel rejoiced with the merit and give blessing, the mind current will work immediately according to the law of energy. The higher the field of merit they are, the more supported power is sent back to the merit-maker. This is why merit-making will be even more completed if it is done with “The true field of merit.”

The merit energy that we make to the Buddha with pure mind will be the merit power that supports us to have more and more prosperity with bright Dhamma power because the one whom we dedicate merit for is the purest one and has enormous mind power. The purer the mind current we send out, the more the result of merit we receive.

What did people do, they would get what they did in return.

Even only a small flower that is delicately prepared to make a garland or bouquet to dedicate for the Buddha with faith will blossom beautifully both while doing it and in the future because everything happens with the mind current. But for those who are still lost with evil mind, won’t they realize the results of the counter power and supported power?

“พลังตีกลับ”

เวลาเราพูดถึงเรื่องบุญและบาป ฟังดูเหมือนเป็นเรื่องที่พิสูจน์ไม่ได้ มีแต่ต้องเป็นผู้ได้รับผลจากกระแสบุญและบาปอยู่เสมอ จริง ๆ แล้วพลังบุญและพลังบาปเป็นเรื่องของกระแสพลังงานที่มีจุดเริ่มต้นจากใจ โดยมีกระแสจิตเป็นหัวหน้าในการแยกแยะความเป็นกระแสบาปและกระแสบุญ

จิตที่เป็นกระแสบุญเป็นจิตที่เบาบางละเอียด เพราะเมื่อประกอบบุญด้วยกาย วาจา ใจ จิตจะรู้สึกผ่องใสไม่มัวหมองอับแสง จิตบริสุทธิ์มีพลังอยู่เหนืออำนาจกิเลส ก็มีอานุภาพไปขัดเกลากระแสสกปรกที่ปกคลุมผิวจิตชั้นนอกอยู่ด้วย ผู้ประกอบบุญจึงมีความผ่องใสทางกาย ในทางกลับกัน จิตที่เป็นอกุศลเป็นกระแสที่หนักสกปรกหมักหมม เพราะสิ่งที่ใจผลิตออกมามีแต่ร้อนรุ่มวุ่นวาย เครียด วิตกกังวล กระแสเหล่านี้เป็นกระแสหนักก็ไปฝังเกาะทับถมอยู่กับของเดิม ก็ยิ่งทำให้จิตเศร้าหมองหนักกว่าเดิม และปรากฏออกมาเป็นความดำหมองทางกาย

ความหมองหรือใสนี่ ต่างจากความหมองเพราะแดดและความใสเพราะขัดผิว ที่ว่าต่างนั่นก็เพราะเป็นสิ่งที่สัมผัสได้ด้วยกระแสจิต คือบางคนดูหน้าใสแต่จิตกลับไม่รู้สึกถึงความผ่องใสในจิตใจ เพราะกระแสคุณธรรมไม่มีแผ่พลังออกมา

เวลาอาจารย์สอนวิปัสสนาวันแรก ๆ จะสังเกตเห็นศิษย์ที่มาหน้าตาหมองคล้ำจากการลุยกับชีวิตมา แต่พอวันท้าย ๆ ใบหน้าของทุกคนมีความผ่องใสอย่างเห็นได้ชัด มันเป็นความใสกระจ่าง จากข้างในทะลุมาถึงตาเนื้อทีเดียว

จิตที่เพียรทำกุศลอยู่เสมอ กายก็ย่อมต้องผ่องใสจะเป็นอื่นไปไม่ได้ เพราะได้ขัดเกลาจิตให้สะอาดอยู่ทุกวัน แต่หากทำในสิ่งตรงข้าม กายใจก็ย่อมหมองหนักขึ้นทุกวัน ๆ ยิ่งทำโดยเจตนาปองร้ายมากเท่าไหร่ ผลจะยิ่งปรากฏแรงมากขึ้นเท่านั้น ยิ่งผู้ถูกปองร้ายสูงเท่าไหร่ กระแสการตีกลับก็จะถูกส่งกลับแรงขึ้นและเร็วขึ้น ดั่งที่มีผู้ปองร้ายพระพุทธเจ้า ทั้งนางจิญจมาณวิกา ทั้งพระเทวทัต พลังงานปองร้ายที่ส่งมาเป็นกระแสมืดดำ พอส่งไปถึงพระพุทธเจ้าที่จิตพระองค์เป็นเพียงกระแสธาตุ ไม่มีความทึบแน่นใด ๆ เหลืออยู่ มีเพียงกายสังขารเท่านั้น กระแสธาตุที่ว่าง พอส่งมาก็วกตีกลับมากระแทกผู้ส่งมาอย่างรวดเร็วและแรงมาก เพราะไม่มีจุดพักแบ่งรับกระแส

หากเราปาก้อนหินหนึ่งก้อนไปชนกำแพงด้วยความโกรธแค้น กำแพงไม่แกร่งก็จะทะลุเสียหาย กระแสที่ส่งไปก็ได้ผลและกระจายออกไปหลายด้าน แต่หากเขาปาไปโดยคิดว่ามีกำแพง แต่จริง ๆ กำแพงไม่มี เมื่อไม่มีปลายทาง ผู้ที่เป็นจุดกำเนิดต้นทางก็ถูกอัดกระแทกด้วยกระแสที่ตนส่งไปเต็ม ๆ กระแสเหล่านี้ก็ไปฝังอยู่ในตนเองและต้องรอรับผลกรรมอันเผ็ดร้อนตามกฎของโลกวิญญาณอีกต่อหนึ่ง

ในฝั่งของจิตกุศล ยิ่งเพียรทำความดีเท่าไหร่ ก็ยิ่งไปขัดเกลาดึงความมืดดำที่อยู่ในจิตให้สะอาดขึ้นเรื่อย ๆ แล้วกระแสที่ส่งออกไปเป็นกระแสที่ไปเชื่อมกับพลังงานธรรม ยิ่งไปเชื่อมกับกระแสพระรัตนตรัยที่บริสุทธิ์เท่าไหร่ กระแสที่ไปจูนรับกลับมาสู่จิตก็มากยิ่งขึ้น เกิดเป็นพลังหนุนกลับ พอเป็นฝั่งกุศลเราไม่ใช้คำว่าตีกลับ เราใช้คำว่า กระแสเกื้อหนุน

หากมีความสงสัยว่า พระรัตนตรัยท่านเอากระแสจากไหนไปส่งคืน เพียงท่านน้อมจิตอนุโมทนาและอำนวยพรเท่านั้น กระแสจิตก็ทำงานตามกฎพลังงานทันที ยิ่งท่านเป็นเนื้อนาบุญสูงเท่าไหร่ การทำบุญแก่ท่านก็เกิดเป็นพลังงานเกื้อหนุนกลับคืนมาสู่ผู้ประกอบกุศลมหาศาลยิ่งขึ้น นี่จึงเป็นเหตุแห่งการทำบุญจะได้ผลสมบูรณ์ยิ่งขึ้นหากทำกับผู้เป็น “เนื้อนาบุญอันประเสริฐ”

พลังงานกุศลที่เราทำถวายพระบรมศาสดาด้วยใจบริสุทธิ์ เกิดเป็นพลังกุศลที่หนุนกลับมาสู่ผู้ประกอบบุญให้มีแต่ความเจริญยิ่ง ๆ ขึ้นไป มีพลังธรรมเจิดจ้ามีแสงออร่าสว่างยิ่งขึ้น เพราะผู้ที่เราทำถวายนั้นบริสุทธิ์สูงสุด มีอานุภาพแห่งจิตท่วมจักรวาล ยิ่งจิตที่เราน้อมส่งออกไปบริสุทธิ์เท่าไหร่ ผลที่ได้ก็ยิ่งเพิ่มทวีคูณ

บุคคลกระทำสิ่งใดไว้ ย่อมได้รับสิ่งนั้นเป็นเครื่องตอบแทน

แม้เพียงดอกไม้ดอกเล็ก ๆ ที่บรรจงปักเพื่อน้อมถวายพระศาสดาด้วยศรัทธา ดอกไม้นั้นจักส่งผลเป็นความงามเบ่งบานทั้งในขณะที่ลงมือทำและในอนาคต เพราะทุกอย่างเกิดขึ้นด้วยกระแสจิต แล้วผู้ที่ยังหลงจมอยู่ด้วยจิตอันเป็นอกุศลเล่า จะไม่ตระหนักถึงพลังตีกลับและพลังหนุนเสริมบ้างเชียวหรือ
