A sharp mind is very important factor for meditation. We can have a sharp mind by practicing mindfulness, not only during meditation but all the time in our daily life. Whether we are moving or staying still, thinking about work or anything else, we must always be mindful. Mind is like the commanding brain, for which mindfulness is the tool to act according to its command.
The core of Vipassana meditation that the Buddha taught gives much importance to mindfulness. It is called the Four Foundations of Mindfulness; having the mind as an acting base to lead to enlightenment.
Unfortunately, most people do not see the importance or benefits of mindfulness practice. On the contrary, they continuously live their lives without mindfulness, for example, they think while walking, play on their phone while eating, think about one thing then change to other things, or have repetitive thoughts. These cause the lack of potential and energy in life. Thus, they cannot see things clearly, cannot analyze any plan, and always make wrong decisions. Moreover, due to the lack of mindfulness, they cannot lift up their thinking and their capability to the highest level.
The sword of mindfulness is the weapon of mind and body.
Letting the sword get rusty is the same as losing the battle even before the war starts.
If you never enter a battlefield, when can you claim victory?
